Girish Arun Koushik
PhD student at the University of Surrey

I am a PhD student at the University of Surrey in the UK. My research focuses on developing a robust multimodal framework for hate speech detection on social media platforms. I am supervised by Dr. Diptesh Kanojia and Prof. Helen Treharne.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I earned a Master’s degree in Advanced Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence from the University of Strathclyde (UK) in 2023 and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from RV College of Engineering in Bengaluru, India.
Beyond academia, I am a passionate chess player. I became a Grandmaster in 2019 and an International Master in 2013, and I have won numerous national and international tournaments. Learn more on the chess page.
